Day 11 - Boggy Hole - Northern Territory

Day 11 - Once again we got up early and headed towards Boggy Hole, a beautiful spot within Finke Gorge National Park. On the way we saw: donkeys, over 30 camels, and one red kangaroo.

To get to Boggy Hole you needed a 4WD and obviously to no how to drive one. We came across three teenagers who had been bogged since the previous afternoon. Mick pulled them out to harder ground and gave them a few tips on how to drive in the soft sand.

We went swimming, nature hiking and visited the ruins of an two old police camps. The camps were set up by the Hermannsburg Lutheran Mission was established as the first of its kind in Central Australia. The camps were setup to control the 'hostile' activities of local Aborigines. The camp was actually abandoned when M. C. Willshire was arrested for the murder of two Aborigines in 1891.

Donkey!

What are you looking at?

We stopped and walked toward the herd.

Natalie counted over 30 of them.

Looking across Mick and Greg decided to climb up the cliff on the other side of the billabong to a couple of caves. Greg carved in a Canadian Flag and Dearden, Canada 07.
